The festive season is now officially upon us! It's time to get my classroom Christmas tree up and get all Christmassy! I love having any excuse to bring creativity into my lessons, and Science Daily has recently found evidence to suggest that being creative leads to an "upward spiral of increased wellbeing and creativity in young adults." If you visit Teachers Resource Force often, you'll know I'm all about creativity and character building here as I'm passionate in helping you promote well-being to support our students in their personal development journeys too!
If you also value creativity and want some fun festive classroom ideas for the Christmas season, then keep reading:
1) How can we not start with Christmas decor?! These littlepaper craft ornaments are not just great for decorating the Christmas tree, but do them early enough in December and you can get the most out of them by decorating your classroom too! There are a whole range of different designs included in this set and not only are they creative and enjoyable, but the construction of some of the more challenging designs especially will do wonders for your students' problem solving skills! They do come with instructions though should they need a little extra support!
These paper ornaments are a joy to colour in and practice some mindfulness - imagine your students quietly decorating and building these alone or in teams with a cosy fireplace up on your projector, some calming Christmas tunes playing in the background and being surrounded by twinkling fairy lights around the room - delightful!
2) Who doesn't love Christmas themed emojis? Students are sure to enjoy practicing their times tables again with these Christmas themed dot to dot challenges! You'll even get some blank ones to stretch your students further - they can create their own challenges using any patterns they want... Imagine the possibilities! Plus, then there is the joy of colouring these little guys in once they have been completed - and they'll great up in your classroom!
3) Finally, how could I not mention my infamous quote colouring pages! Students all around the world have been getting a kick out of these quote colouring pages for years as it's such a simple, effortless but effective way of integrating some creativity into the classroom that also looks wonderful once on display! You could even print these to half size and then stick them onto some card for some cute Christmas cards that students can write and send to others in the school or at home!
I hope you enjoy bringing some mindfulness, well-being and Christmas cheer into your classroom this festive season; make sure you take time for yourself too! Here's a Christmas ornament craft you can download for free and use with your students:
