It's officially 2015, happy new year!

After waking up this morning and seeing how many cities around the world rang in the new year in unique and magnificent ways, I was inspired to come up with a discussion activity for my students on this topic!

Here are how some of the major cities around the world rang in 2015 which you can show your students:

What amazing celebrations that went on all over the world last night!

Some prompting questions for your students:
  • Which city do you think had the best celebration and why?
  • Is there an element of competition between countries to have the best celebration and why?
  • If you could have been anywhere in the world, which one of these cities would you have chosen to celebrate the New Year in, and why?
  • What do you think is better, going out to a big city to celebrate New Year or staying home with family, and why?
  • How did you spend your New Year's Eve?
I hope you have a great start to the new year and I hope you and your students enjoy discussing these stunning celebrations!
