How to use Pinterest in the classroom

This year was the first year I introduced Pinterest in my teaching and I absolutely loved it! I was absolutely stunned to learn that the majority of young people I teach hadn't heard of the site though, it seems to be an "adult" thing here!?
(Please note that students do need to log into the site to see boards and have to be at least 13 years old to do so.)

Pinterest is a great tool for mood boarding and gathering inspiration for projects for us adults, so why not use it with your students in your classroom as well?
Whatever project you are teaching about, there are visuals and websites to accompany it. All you need to do is gather these images and their relevant links on a Pinterest board and share them with your class!

I personally made a special school Pinterest account for this so as not to mix up personal interests with school, but do whatever is right for you and your school policies.
Students can then access the Pinterest boards in class or at home and use the images and related links in their research and homework tasks! They could even make their own boards for individual or group projects.

Such a simple concept yet I don't know of many schools taking advantage of this tool, especially in the UK - so why not be a pioneer in your school and hop on the Pinterest bandwagon!

I never thought of using with Pinterest for student research! I think it is a great idea for older students.
Thanks for sharing!
