A great way to inspire students with their writing, is to give them themed writing paper; great for class work or even home work writing tasks! Depending on the ability of your students, you can give them wide lined paper or tight lined paper. Each sheet has a themed border with fun clip art images! There are colour and black and white versions, depending on your preference (and printing budgets!)

In this digital age we are in, the number of students reading actual books, especially in secondary school, is in danger of dwindling dramatically. Encourage your students to not only read books, but give them the opportunity to reflect on their thoughts by writing their own review on it. They can then use this review to share their opinions in a kind of book club style way! I have created a resource below that you can print off and can be used with any book. Feel free to use it with your students! This resource can be completed at the end of their book and be kept in their personal file. This is great for looking back on at the end of the year which can prompt its own personal reflection. To encourage regular reading and completing books, ensure you offer a nice reward for every book they complete, review and share! Click on the image above to download this resource for free! For more ideas: Your students will really enjoy being rewarded with these teenage appropriate coupons! They are the same size as standard index cards and come with cool teenage clip art designed by myself. These work for any class and any subject and they are so simple to use! When you wish to reward positive behaviour of your students, send them to your “reward station” (your index box and reward menu which you can print, laminate and display) and ask them to select which reward they would like to have (I have added a blank set for you to write your own too!). It is then up to them when they choose to cash in their reward. This element of choice works really well with teenagers! This resource is a lifelong tool that can be used over again with every class and teen age group, you will wonder how you managed without it!
So go on, set up your own reward station with this resource and really create a happy buzz in your classroom – your students will always look forward to your lessons and will be on their best behaviour, allowing you to concentrate on teaching! Fore more ideas: |
