So many times we are just rushing through life, in a hurry to get to the next break, weekend or end of the day... but what are we missing in the process? Life isn't about the destination, it's all about the journey and teaching is the same. In this episode, we discuss the importance of enjoying each day and strategies we can use to ensure we're writing the best story about our teacher life.
Too often we feel overwhelmed in teaching because of our willingness to take on new challenges and our guilt in saying no when asked for help. However, in order to not only manage workload but ensure you are taking care of yourself too, we need to learn how to set healthy boundaries in teaching.
Oftentimes we can look at other teachers who seem to have it all together or can deal with situations better than we can, and it's all too tempting to compare ourselves. In this episode we look at how the strongest teachers are often so due to the journeys they have had to go through. Teaching is not easy and it's those who have gone through the tough times and stuck it out are the ones we end up admiring so much.
The phrase "burnout" is something we are always told that as teachers, we should be doing all we can to avoid and run away from: fear it like the boogeyman! We have become almost terrified that if it ever catches up with us then that means we have failed as a teacher. In today's episode we challenge this mindset and attitude towards "burnout" and practical ways we can deal with the stresses of teaching.
Stress is just a period of difficulty that we have to go through in order to develop something within ourselves. If we can't build the resilience to go through the difficult times, we won't be able to handle success and all that comes with it down the road. Listen to this episode to help you adjust your mindset when it comes to feeling stressed out.
Ever wondered why you feel like you're being pushed to your limits as a teacher? Do you ever feel like you seem to be having a harder time than those around you? It's likely because it's for a very good and exciting reason! Listen on to hear how in a flash, you can shift your mindset to get you through the challenging times.
